Pickling stain gives a pleasing light whitewash over tounge and groove pine. Two coats gives a little more color but still allows the grain to come through.

Purchased an unfinished Amish-made buffet made in a very nice light, golden-cream new pine, and was terrified of ruining it by finishing it myself, but couldn’t afford to have it finished. And finishing is such smelly, hard work. First time I used this product and I am delighted, product was easy to use and 2 coats gave a beautiful effect with grain showing through. I didn’t pre-treat and pine can stain unevenly (this product did raise the grain which was lightly sanded off) – but it dries fast and I was so happy with the look I started thinking about what else I can use this stain on. Next time I will try the wood conditioner first, but for sure this was great on unfinished good pine.
